Job Description:
The Production Control Manager manages the Master Production
Schedule (MPS), making sure production processes stay within
budgets and meet Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) deadlines.
They schedule, release, and track advanced manufacturing production
orders and schedules. They review Overall Equipment Effectiveness
(OEE). The Production Control Manager must work closely with team
members to build strategies to maximize performance. This role will
also collaborate with other departments and team members to set
goals for the production team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Master Production Scheduling (MPS)
Develops, reviews, and manages the Master Production Schedule
(MPS).
Schedule, release, and the track production orders and
schedules.
Schedule flow of work within and between departments of the Tracy
manufacturing plant.
Ensure our client meets MRP scheduled demands.
Establishes priorities for specific customer orders and revises the
MPS according to work order priorities, availability or capability
of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
Reschedules identical manufacturing processes to eliminate
redundant machine setups and work.
Distributes work orders, denoting number, type, and proposed
completion date of work to be produced.
Systems (SAP) Management
Use SAP and other computer applications to manage and track
MPS.
Use SAP to manage, track and report production progress.
Use the system to extract data required to develop various
Production Control reports.
Use the system to develop and report department KPIs.
People
Mentor, coach and provide guidance to production staff.
Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep our client
accident-free.
Collaborate with department supervisors to define progress of work
and provide information on changes in processing methods received
from engineering departments.
Communicate regularly with Leadership regarding issues that impact
production.
Set productivity goals for each manufacturing team.
Materials
Manage all in-factory material inventory.
Coordinates materials expedites in collaboration with the Material
Coordinator/Manager.
Provide early signal to Supply Chain Manager to ensure materials
are ordered and in stock whenever needed.
Collateral Duties
Tracks and reports information regarding machine failure
downtime.
Lead lean manufacturing.
Consistently find ways to continually improve our client's
production processes.
Establish a balance between increased productivity and reduced
costs of manufacturing operations.
Develop and codify Production Control policies and procedures that
improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
Ancillary duties as required to ensure our client's success
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related
field.
Requires 5 years of experience minimum.
At least 2 years of direct report supervisory experience.
Ability to coach and motivate employees
Proven track record for excellent project management as well as
employee training in productivity and safety.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong project management skills
Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
regulations
Deep computer systems knowledge
Clear understanding of manufacturing finance, including cost
accounting.
A sense of humor
Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and the
International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) global
standards, preferred.
CPIM is preferred. The APICS Certified in Production and Inventory
Management (CPIM) program is recognized as the standard of
professional competence in materials management, master scheduling,
forecasting, production planning and how it applies across the
extended supply chain.
