Seeking Virtual Platform Administrators to support the Enterprise
Virtual Platform Management Support Services task orders.
Enterprise Virtual Platform Management support services encompass
both on-premise and off-premise virtualized infrastructure. The
Virtual Platform Administrators are responsible for managing all of
the virtualized infrastructure, both on-premise and off-premise.
The on-premise infrastructure is comprised of VMware
vSphere/vCenter environments running in the East and West Enduring
Datacenters (EDC), as well as other major site locations or
Installation Processing Nodes (IPN). The hardware, software, and
applications running at these locations include VMware vCenter
Server, which provides the central platform to manage the
underlying VMware vSphere environments and infrastructure. The
VMware infrastructure is comprised of hardware, software,
applications and vendor appliances. The hardware includes Cisco
Unified Computing System (UCS) B-series and C-series blade servers
and chassis, Cisco UCS Mini blade servers and chassis, Cisco UCS
HyperFlex, Dell PowerEdge (PE) servers, and HP ProLiant Servers.
The software, applications, and appliances include VMware
vSphere/vCenter Server and the VMware vRealize Suite, which is
comprised of vRealize Automation, vRealize Operations, vRealize Log
Insight, and vRealize Business for Cloud. RESPONSIBILITIES ?
Provide administrative and technical support for current and future
virtualization technologies used ? Expert knowledge in the
following virtualization technologies: Cisco Unified Computing
System (UCS) B-series and C-series blade servers and chassis, Cisco
UCS Mini blade servers and chassis; Cisco UCS HyperFlex; VMware
vSphere/vCenter Server 5.x, 6.x and above; Dell PowerEdge (PE)
servers; HP ProLiant Servers. ? Assists with the management,
development, testing and maintenance of computer programs to ensure
that the application meets the needs of the users of the system
? Perform vSphere and vCenter installations, upgrades and patching;
create, update and delete Resource Pools
? Assign resources to Resource Pools sufficient to meet Resource
? Configure Host Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS) and Storage
Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS)
? Create, update and delete virtual standard switches, virtual
distributed switches, and port groups; create, update, delete, and
manage host clusters; create, update, delete and manage storage
? Manage and maintain host clusters to ensure availability of
compute resources to all virtual machines participating in the

? Configure vSphere Policies, Identity Sources, Certificates and
Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) Service Providers;
assign, unassign and manage vSphere Licenses; configure vSphere
? Manage and configure vCenter Server Extensions; manage and
maintain vSphere System Configuration, Nodes, and Services
? Monitor Host and Storage clusters for performance issues, alarms,
scheduled and unscheduled tasks and events; manage and maintain
vSphere Host and Storage DRS for faults, DRS history, CPU
utilization, memory utilization and network utilization, taking
corrective actions to resolve performance issues; manage and
maintain vSphere High Availability.
? Manages and maintains complex software systems.
? Performs application software implementations and upgrades. ?
Ensures high availability, security and integrity of assigned
? Monitors applications, including setting alerts to maintain the
stability of the environment and application, monitoring error
logs, and automating administration tasks wherever possible. ?
Installs application patches and releases on development, test,
pre-production, and production systems.
? Serves as key person in troubleshooting system problems. ?
Creates and maintains accurate system documentation for assigned
? Maintains current descriptions and documentation of application
and system configurations, including tracking and documenting any
changes to environments.
? Assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning
on assigned systems. ? Participates in disaster recovery planning,
including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery
? Analyzes performance trends to optimize application performance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ? Seven (7) Years of progressive experience
in the management and maintenance of virtualized server
environments and hosted applications. At least two (2) years of
qualifying experience must include managing successful large scale,
multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems
administration) projects involving virtual servers.
