Tik Tok . Job Description Discovery Biotherapeutics and Genetic
Medicine (BGM) at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated Principal
Scientist to join the Biotherapeutics group at the AbbVie Bay Area
(ABA) site based in South San Francisco, CA. This role seeks a
skilled and experienced individual to contribute to and lead
therapeutic programs, focusing on biophysical screening to advance
biotherapeutics from early exploration through lead identification
and optimization. Close partnerships with Oncology will be required
to drive transformative ideas to the clinic. The ideal candidate
must possess expertise in high-throughput biologics screening and
characterization methods (e.g. ELISA, FACS, BLI, SPR, etc.) and
have a solid foundation in protein sciences and antibody discovery
with a proven ability to work effectively on cross-functional
teams. Responsibilities Lead from the lab to advance large molecule
biologics projects from exploratory to optimization stages and
drive Go / No Go decisions. Effectively partner with functional and
therapeutic areas to achieve project objectives. Identify and
integrate cutting-edge technologies and methodologies into
screening and assay development, anticipating future trends in drug
discovery. Multitask and work within timelines while maintaining a
high level of productivity. Supervise 1-2 scientists, evaluate team
performance, and is accountable for the effective performance of
team Qualifications BS, MS, or PhD with typically 14 (BS), 12 (MS),
or 6 (PhD) years of relevant experience. Experience with biologics,
monoclonal antibodies and/or protein therapeutics. Experience
advancing Discovery programs from exploratory to candidate
nomination Independently develop and execute biosensor and
cell-based platforms to evaluate panels of antibody
biotherapeutics. Implement high-throughput epitope binning for
large panels of monoclonal antibodies and develop deep knowledge of
antibody sequence/function relationships. Evaluate and integrate
biomolecular interaction technologies (e.g., SPR) to guide
therapeutic candidate selection recommendations. Expert in
biophysical characterization instrumentation and methodologies such
as SEC, MS, HDX-MS, X-ray crystallography, DSF, DLS, etc. Challenge
the status quo and onboard cutting-edge technologies to drive
discovery and innovation. Excellent attention to detail, record
keeping, and organization. Excellent communication, presentation,
and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Antibody
sequence and structure knowledge. Structure-based molecular
modeling and applications with AI/ML and integrating complex
datasets to drive data-based decisions. CRO and external partner
