Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineering Senior Manager - Architecture will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering in Sacramento, Ca. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical architecture team as related to rail vehicle mechanical design.

The primary objective of this role is to support the applicable engineering effort for customized versions of the current product portfolio capitalizing in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements. This role will perform cost optimization of current products as well as new development programs.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead a team of engineers in developing rail vehicle products and deliverables.
  • Ensure all systems are fully integrated into design packages.
  • Oversee mechanical integration, including customer requirements and scope of work documents.
  • Compile specifications, CDRLs, and Design Review Documentation.
  • Coordinate mechanical design activities across rail platforms for standardization.
  • Foster a positive working culture that promotes collaboration, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Specify technical requirements and provide clarity across departments.
  • Act as the technical representative in customer design meetings.
  • Provide technical mentorship to the Mechanical Engineering team and junior engineers.
  • Manage tasks independently, ensuring schedules and budgets are met, and support procurement, manufacturing, testing, and warranty cycles.
  • Some travel is required.

    To thrive in this role, you have:

    • BS degree in Mechanical, or other applicable technical degree + 10 years of relevant experience or MS degree in Mechanical, or other applicable technical degree + 5 years of relevant experience, or a PhD in Mechanical, or other applicable technical degree + 2 years of relevant experience.
    • Provide leadership contribution to the management of the Mechanical Engineering team
    • Mechanical Engineering experience with projects from start to finish of the Engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing and warranty.

      • MS degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
      • Rolling Stock Engineering experience and the vehicle platforms they are derived from.
      • Working knowledge of typical railway Light Rail and Heavy Rail design standards such as AAR Section M, APTA, ASMES, PRIIA, and typical Amtrak specifications.

          This position is based in Sacramento, Ca. We offer a variety of health and wellness benefits to employees. The base salary range for this position in Sacramento, Ca, is $134,100 - $189,500 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications
